My sketchbook is my greatest tool in my creative process. I've found no better place to work out my ideas. When I'm assigned to a creative project, it's the first place I go. And when I'm in a rut, I pull out a pocket sketch, grab the pencil from behind my ear and go to town. I watch a lot of young designers skip this process, going straight to the software. The software is valuable, and in most cases necessary, but the raw, organic nature of an idea that first works out in a sketch, you'll get something unique almost everytime.
